I've been back to Banh a few times at this point so I've tried a lot more items on their menu. Overall it's still a solid neighborhood spot, and I love that they switch up their menu occasionally with seasonal items. Banh Tieu (savory stuffed donut) - we got this as an appetizer. Delicious but it's definitely on the smaller side! Banh Mi: I like the OG, BBQ Pork, Fried Chicken, and Beef banh mis in that order. The OG is always my go-to order at any banh mi shop so I'm a bit biased. Banh's OG is heavier on the pate (which I like) and includes pork floss (which I don't mind but not my favorite). I remember the chicken and beef banh mis weren't as flavorful as the OG and pork but it seems they changed the beef banh mi to beef brisket recently, which I haven't tried! Com Tam (broken rice) - a good amount to share between two people. I've never tried this dish before, so I don't have a good point of comparison but I liked it (especially the meatloaf). Bun Ca Hai Phong (fried fish and tomato noodle soup) - a good option if you want to try something other than pho. I thought this was good, but I'm not a huge fan of seafood-based soups so probably won't get it again. I think there were sea snails (?) in it too, which I'm not a huge fan of. Bun Cha - I love bun cha - it's light and fresh, and I love the pork patties. The portion isn't huge though and it's a bit pricey. I also wish they provided more sauce to flavor the noodles. I'd also recommend their drinks! I loved Vietnamese iced coffee, and it was fun being able to try the egg cream coffee and the milo iced milk chocolate.

A popular spot with excellent food and no-frills service. We waited around 20 minutes on a weeknight for a table for two. Inside is quite small and tightly packed. I got the brisket banh mi, I believe, which was a generous portion and soo flavorful with perfectly tender meat. My friend got classic house beef pho which, to my undiscerning palate, was also quite good. They definitely do NOT skimp on the meat here. My one complaint is the janky QR code menus that take you to a TikTok-esque website where it is lowkey difficult to figure out what each item is, and the staff were not too helpful lol

this has officially become the vietnamese restaurant I will take every NY visitor to! despite the having to wait over an hour for a table on a sunday at around 1:30 pm, the meal was absolutely worth it. at $16.95, the house beef pho was packed with noodles and a generous amount of beef. most restaurants skimp on meat to noodle ratio, but this place definitely does not, and each piece of meat was so so tender! broth itself was very strong. the restaurant itself is pretty small and fits up to around 30 guests at a time (wish they had bar seats, but it's already so packed inside). it's bright and colorful on the outside, but definitely has a much more mellow atmosphere on the inside. the restroom also is very clean and spacious!

I've been searching high and low for a good bowl of pho in NYC and I think I finally found it here! My credentials: I'm Vietnamese and grew up in Houston, TX so I've had quite a bit of good Vietnamese food. We walked in around 6:30 on a weekday and waited around 15 minutes for a table for 2. It was pretty busy with lots of people going in and out which was a good sign. I got the house beef pho. The broth was aromatic and flavorful, and so perfect for the cold weather. Definitely the best pho I've tried in NYC. They really load you up on the noodles! But there was a good amount of beef--I find that some restaurants skimp on the meat and I didn't think this place does that. We also got the banh chung to share, which was delicious. It had a nice crispy exterior and soft interior and went really well with the sauce it came with. It was pretty heavy so I'd pass on this if you want a lighter appetizer. Service was attentive and my water glass was never empty. The food came out very quickly. Interestingly, it was freezing inside the restaurant but other than that, I had a good experience here. I'll definitely come back next time I want good pho and to try the banh mi. Highly recommend this place if you want good pho!

Good Vietnamese restaurants are so hard to come by and incredibly lacking in New York, but Banh is an exception from the list of mediocrity. This may even be the best viet spot thus far (we really do need more in NYC tho). Placed an order for take-out via phone. Restaurant was packed when I went to pick it up; it's fairly small since the open kitchen space takes up half the restaurant, while the other half is lined with tables with minimal space in between. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I felt so at home here LOL. I wanted to get everything on the menu, but restricted myself to my staples: PHO DAC BIET: Easily one of my top 3 pho in NYC. The broth is rich and deep with a very distinct aroma from the star anise and cinnamon. They gave hefty pieces of beef brisket and didn't skimp out on the tendon and tripe. It also came with a generous portion of noodles, making this a very loaded and comforting bowl of pho. COM TAM: Pork chop was moist and seasoned well with lemongrass; the smokiness or char from the grill was so prevalent as well. I appreciate the plethora of do chua and greens as well. Served on a bed of broken rice, this was a very well balanced dish. BANH TIEU: This banh tieu kep xoi was what I was most excited for. This is a great snack to share, but I could also easily inhale this on my own. The xoi man itself is loaded with Chinese sausage, quail egg and pork floss. The pate is a little runnier than normal, but they give you a heaping serving of it. This is a culinary masterpiece of various textures and flavors! BANH CUON HANOI: I love banh cuon and it's almost impossible to ever find good banh cuon. This is a must order for me! Skin is incredibly light and delicate, but with a great amount of well-seasoned filling. Took a lot of restraint to not order everything on the menu, but safe to say this will be my go-to spot! So happy to finally find an establishment that serves good homey viet food.

Whoaaaa! This is a great spot. It was crowded on a Friday at 2:30pm. I heard people drove to eat there and a few I talked to while waiting said it's really good and you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. This was true. I was 2/2. The specials looked amazing. I tried the mango salad with fish jerky and the tofu Banh mi. I can't wait to go back and take all my friends and family here. Service and ambiance is great. (Area is a little sketch so don't wander too far from the restaurant)

Amazing Vietnamese restaurant. I trekked all the way up to UWS (which is long) just for a taste of this spot. And i was not dissapointed! Such great and authentic eats from Vietnam. My good friend from Vietnam says that this is the best Vietnamese place in NYC, so I trust her on that. Service was quick, and efficient with a no frills dining area. Apparently there are lines usually, but we got there right when it opened for dinner and only waited about 20 mins. They also have specials for certain days- which is cool! Be on a lookout for those. Some notable dishes we loved: the BÁNH CUỐN HÀ NỘI, XÔI XÉO THỊT KHO (CARAMILIZED PORK BELLY, MUNG BEAN STICKY RICE), and their Pho is pretty good! Will I be traveling all the way back to UWS for this?.... Honestly, maybe. And that's saying something!

Probably the best Vietnamese food that I've had since migrating from California. Super busy during lunch and you can expect to wait. It's was comforting to hear the staff talk in Vietnamese, so it reminded me of home. They have some more modern looking dishes on the menu but I like to stick with the classic dishes. I got pho and it was really in line with my sometimes unrealistic expectations with Vietnamese food. My fiancée's pho ended up having a strand of steel wool, but the staff made things right and comped us for the incident. I want to (and will) come back here!

Banh is seriously worth the hype! I came here for a relative's birthday since they wanted Vietnamese food and this was a great place to go! I ordered the Veggie Seasonal Dry Style Pho, which was sooo delicious and I loved how well they seasoned the veggies, ESPECIALLY the mushroom! It was my first time having dry style pho and I would love to have it this way again. They have tons of vegan and gluten free options to accommodate dietary restrictions. My family ordered the BBQ combination platter, beef pho, chicken pho, and the stuffed mini crispy rice (which they all raved about). I would say the only dish that fell short/was bland was the BÁNH CHƯNG CHIÊN (Crispy Sticky Rice Cake - VG/mushroom option). I loved the presentation and idea, but the flavor was underwhelming. However, the other dishes were amazing and I would return to try more! I also wish there were some Vietnamese desserts offered :( Of note, this place is walk-in only, so you can't make a reservation beforehand. There's also limited seating so the wait time can be a little long. However, their waitlist system is super simple and I love how easy it is to see where you are in line. Also, the line moved generally quick for how busy it was. The staff is super sweet and friendly. The service was fast, fresh, and they were super kind about the wait time. Banh is a very small spot, so it's cozy. Also, whoever was in control of the music tonight was playing all my breakup playlist songs lol. Overall ambiance, it's a pretty cute and causal spot with good music. I definitely think it's one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in NYC and comparable to my favorite spot outside of the city. I look forward to returning and exploring more of the menu :)
